This week in M3

Good Afternoon!
Homework will be sent home today for the first time! Students should complete one day of the homework each night and return their homework to school on Friday.

We have two birthdays in our class this week! Please help me wish Victoria and Evelyn a very happy birthday! 

Math- This week we will finish up graphing and begin learning about skip counting. This will include lots of fun, hands on activities!
Reading- We will continue to practice our Daily 5 routine as well as learn about different texts.
Grammar- We are reviewing nouns.
Phonics- During our first phonics unit for the year we are looking at initial blends in words.
Content- This week starts an exciting unit on shadows and the moon. This is one of my favorites.

**Important**
-Please make sure your child is only bringing water to school in their water bottles. Any other beverage will have to be saved for lunch (no sodas).
-If your child has a behavior slip sent home it must be signed and returned.
-If you have not received an invite for our class BLOOMZ account please send me an email with your information so I can add you.

First Week Of School!

During the first week of school we will spend time going over rules and procedures that we follow. We will do some fun activities to get to know each other and build relationships- stay tuned for pictures!

Each week I will give you all an update on what we are learning and a list of spelling words.

•  Math - We are going to get started by using graphs to keep learning about each other.
• Writing- Students will show me what great writers they already are by writing a narrative, opinion, and informative piece. 
• Content - We will begin the week doing a couple STEM challenges and end the week by learning about seasons. We will revisit this during each season to observe the changes in nature. 
• Reading- I will introduce (review for many of the students) Daily 5. We will practice our stamina to prepare for rounds. We will also review sentence structure, types of sentences, and vowels. 

***Regular homework will begin the second week of school and spelling will start the fourth week.
