Happy Friday and Happy Fall Break! I know many of you have
something super fun planned and I cannot wait to hear about it when we get
back.
Reminders & Announcements:
- Support
the Pride kicks off September 30th
- Thank
you so much to all who donated or helped us make coke floats! Pictures
will be on Dojo 😊
- No
school next week! Enjoy and relax!
- I’ll
submit our next Scholastic book order on October 31st. Class
code: RBZR3
- We
are finalizing details for our in-house field trip at the end of October-
more details to come after fall break
- Today
your child is bringing home a paper that shows you the mental math
strategies we’re learning and using. Please feel free to use this if you
want to do extra practice at home.
- After
the break, I am going to be more consistent using Dojo points and behavior
notes when it comes to talking. I have been giving lots of warnings, but I
am still having lots of issues with the kids talking when they shouldn’t
be- especially in the hallway. I’ve given them new incentives and am
trying some new techniques, but it’s out of control. Please help remind
your child that we have plenty of time to talk and play at school, but
while we are learning and while we are in the hallway is not one of those
times.
What we’re learning (I am going to start doing this in the
form of the “I can” statements that I use with the kiddos):
Math: I can solve addition and subtraction word problems + I
can identify the value of a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.
Reading: Reading is going to be a review of all the 1st
quarter standards.
Writing: I can write a narrative story that includes a
beginning, middle, and end with details.
Grammar: I can use collective nouns in speaking and writing.
Phonics: I can use the floss rule. *I have attached two
documents for you that show the floss rule.
Content: I can classify objects by their physical properties
