Next Week In Cottage 4

Happy Friday!
Reminders & Announcements:
  • Thank you to all who Were able to make it out to Open House on Monday! I missed seeing those of You who could not make it. Below are some reminders/things we discussed:
    • Students have opportunities to earn or lose Dojo points all week long. Losing 3 Dojo points in one day will result in a behavior note (hitting/kicking a peer is an automatic note home). If students have 15 or more points at the end of the week, they will get to go to the treasure box. I reset points every Monday.
    • We use all flexible seating in my classroom. The kids love it, and so do I. This gives them a chance to choose where they learn best. Each child signed a flexible seating agreement stating that they will choose the spot that is best for them each day and understand that misuse of flexible seating will result in losing that choice. I have some more flexible seating on my Amazon wishlist that I would love to add to our classroom.
    • Once I get the ball rolling with our daily schedule, I will begin posting volunteer opportunities. I like to have a weekly mystery reader, so please keep an eye out for that signup.
    • For Mathzor (fact fluency) please use this link; https://www.mathzor.com/teachers/classPanel?t=2520_YTlkMDdlZGEzYzRiZGVjY2FmM, find your kiddos name and use the password: 123
  • I will submit our first Scholastic Book Clubs order on September 1st. Class code: RBZR3
  • If your child brings a water bottle to school with them, please know that it may only contain water. No juice! We have already had a juice spill in the classroom, and it is difficult to clean up. If possible, please send a water bottle that they do know have to take the lid off of to drink from (like the ones with the straw the pops up). This will help reduce the number of spills altogether.
  • Please remember to send one healthy snack with your child each day. I am already flying through the snacks that have been donated.
  • Over the last two weeks, we have spent lots of time discussing rules and procedures in the classroom. We are still working on, not talking during a lesson and in the hallway. Please help remind your kiddo that it is important to listen and follow directions.

What we’re learning:
Reading: Story structure
Writing: Narrative writing
Grammar: Common/proper nouns
Phonics: Basic consonants
Math: Representing numbers and comparing them
Content: Regions of Georgia

Thanks for all you do! You’ve all helped us start the year off great!
